Redact in the chat box, before anything is sent.

The PII Shield extension masks personal data in the Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Kimi chat boxes on your own machine - the AI only ever sees tokens like [EMAIL_1], and the reply is restored for you. Redaction runs entirely in your browser; you just activate it with your workspace key.

1 · Get your workspace key (free)

The extension activates with a workspace key so your coverage syncs and usage is tracked. The Free tier is 250 masks / month - no card needed.

Already have one? Open your dashboard → Integration → Extension and copy the key (starts with shield_). You'll paste it in step 3.

2 · Add the extension

Add to Chrome →

Click Add to Chrome on the store page, then pin PII Shield from the puzzle-piece menu so it's one click away. Using Edge or Brave? The same store page works - if Edge asks, click Allow extensions from other stores first.

3 · Activate & choose what to mask

  1. Click the pinned PII Shield icon.
  2. Paste your workspace key from step 1 and click Save.
  3. Toggle detectors or add always-mask terms (e.g. an internal project name). Defaults mask:

Open a supported AI tab (reload it if already open) - the badge turns green 🛡 PII Shield active. It ticks up as it masks.

🔒 Redaction runs 100% locally. Your personal data is masked in the page before the request ever leaves your browser, and the AI service receives only placeholders. What we receive is the count of items masked, and - for your workspace's Leak Audit - the values themselves, encrypted in this tab with a public key your workspace generates. We store ciphertext we cannot open; the private key never leaves your browser. Your chat text and your files are never sent to us. Without a valid key, messages containing personal data are blocked, never leaked. (For server-side coverage of API/SDK traffic, use the gateway or MCP instead.)

Supported sites

The extension runs only on these AI chat sites, and nowhere else.
